"it is a plane of existence that can only be accessed by those with the gift,"

WE ALL WATCHED the golds beyond our glass tunnel seemingly entranced in some sort of hypnotic state. They sat still, eyes glowing metallic yellow as the smoke created cloudy patterns around them. I didn't see anything else form in the misted spheres that sat in front of each one of them, but somehow, I knew it wasn't meant for me to see.

"Where is that mist coming from?" Claire whispered beside me, a question I too wished to find the answer to, but whether it was out of luck or pure folly on her part, her voice and question were picked up and answered by Mr. Protheyus who turned slightly towards where we were standing a few paces back.

"The fog is what helps them see," he trailed off, folding his arms before turning back to the scene ahead of us.

David was next to break the silence, his tone sounding like it needed to be heard, "In Greek mythology, the oracle was the one who was able to tell the future, it was uh- a high priestess of the Temple of Apollo," he generously shared.

I could hear a slight huff from other students at the sound of a 'know it all' blue, but I on the other hand noticed Mr. Protheyus' eyes shone a little as if impressed, which I didn't understand at all, seeing as every blue was the same, you would think in the end one would have already established that each blue on Kingsland was a know it all.

"Yes, the oracle," Mr. Ogustus replied in his stead, "it is one of the only ways possible to tell of what is to come in the near or far future. Whilst I would love to tell this tale I believe Mr. Protheyus is a better source as he is a Gold, and has studied every detail of the temple of Apollo. There is surely no other person on earth that is as leaned as him on this subject, it would also help that he was born in Greece," he added with amusement in his eyes as he leaned against his cane.

Mr. Protheyus smiled at this chuckling slightly,

"Really?" David echoed Mr. Ogustus's words.

Mr. Protheyus turned to him, "that I am Greek?" he asked with a chuckle, " full-blooded Greek, I know it is impossible to tell from my lack of an accent, but I was hoping my name would give it away- see when you've been far away from home, as long as I've been, sadly, the accent goes," he smiled, before nodding slightly, "however, it also true that I am a master at everything Apollo, some would say he was among the most powerful gods on earth-"

Mr. Ogustus slightly grunted at this raising a bushy eyebrow at the teacher-

"He was the god of the sun itself, there is no debate about his power" he added, side-glancing at Mr. Ogustus who shook his head tapping his cane-

"Back to your question, my little friend, the oracle is not a priestess, no..." he trailed off turning back to the students who sat on the floor beyond the glass hall, "the oracle is what we see before us."

My eyebrows furrowed at this searching for any sign of some kind of mystical being that could be lurking in this half-empty room and if you ask me, it shouldn't have been that hard, all I could see was the smoke.

"There's nothing there but Fog," David answered coming to our rescue.

"Correct," Mr. Protheyus replied, "the oracle is not a being with hands and legs that can be caged in a mortal form," he explained, "it is a plane of existence that can only be accessed by those with the gift," he turned around looking at David but since I was standing in front of him, it felt like he was staring right at me.

"All you see is smoke, but there's no telling what I see," he turned to face the golds in smoke again, "and hopefully at least what one of them can see," he muttered, eyes sifting through them, " it's a new class," he added lowly, glancing at Mr. Ogustus who nodded along as if he knew the feeling.

"It takes time to see into the oracle, heavy concentration, and candid openness. Other times of course it chooses who to speak to. All things have favorites," he grunted eyes still on his students. I took all this in, making sure I had stored it all in the back of my mind.

We watched the Gold's still stuck in their trance for a few more moments before I became a little bored my eyes traveling around the classroom. I stopped at a certain door I hadn't noticed when I first entered the room. My eyes narrowed on it and realized most people couldn't have seen it. It was painted white and camouflaged well into the walls. Even the doorknob was white, but there was a ring of silver glimmering around it. It was what gave it away.

I wondered what was behind it-

"W-what's wrong with her?" Claire stuttered out loudly, her fingers touching the glass as she pointed to the girl on the far end. She had started to turn pale and her head began to sway, my eyes traveled to the others and I noticed one by one they all started to sway, turning pale before each of them seemed to lose consciousness. Some fell to the floor, whilst others' heads drooped to their shoulders and hang as the mist slowly evaporated from their midst.

"No one can stay in the Oracle for too long, especially when there is nothing they can see-" Mr. Protheyus huffed, "and that is why we sit on the floor, falling from chairs is not ideal," he grunted.

-------------------------

Taking a seat, I glanced over at my right as Claire put her bag on the desk, taking a seat just as Mr. Ogustus turned to face us, a hand in his pocket.

His eyes narrowed down on us, "any questions about the Golds?" he asked, looking at each one of us.

A hand went up from Derek but Mr. Ogustus didn't say a word, his eyes traveling around the class once more.

"It is important for questions to be asked at the right time. I sense many of you younglings had questions- have questions and yet you refrain from saying a word. Next week, all of you will be taken to your perspective classes, there will be strangers amongst you, another set of faces than the ones you have come to know this week. There will be a lot more interaction, especially in the Inter-Color Games-"

"What is that?" Derek asked lowering his hand.

Mr. Ogustus eyes sparkled, "it will be told in due time," he replied before looking out the window with a slight sigh, before turning to us, grabbing his cane, "I will see all of you tomorrow, in our very last session-"

The bell rang and as the noise reached my ears, I felt a smile grace my lips. I would miss this, the bell always interrupting him-

"Till then Younglings."
