Ezra's P.O.V
————————————————————

Finding out your friend tried to make a move on your girlfriend is something I never thought I'd experience.

When Amaya first told me, I thought she was joking.

Then I realized she wasn't joking.

And suddenly I wished she was joking.

Jay violated Bro Code.

Rule #1
NEVER go for your friend's girl, ex or crush.

Rule #2
Read rule #1 again until it is all you think about.

Jay and I weren't close or anything, but we still talked to each other everyday at practice or team hang outs.

Bottom line is we aren't good friends, but we are still friends nonetheless. The rules are a little different in this case.

We're allowed to make moves on each other's ex's. Keyword EX's. I made a move on his ex, he made a move on my girlfriend.

Jay and I had 0 classes together, so I only saw him after school at practice.

I was in the locker room when I heard a group of boys coming in.

I silently cursed under my breath.

I put on my cleats while Jay walked in and started getting changed.

"What's up Ez?" He asked.

How can he talk to me so causally as if he didn't try to make a move on Amaya?

"Nothing." I kept my responses short.

"I'm not ready for today. Apparently we're doing back to back 400 meter sprints."

I could already tell this practice was going to be a long one. Not just because I had to deal with Jay, but because coach was going to work us to the bone today.

"Oh." I said.

He raised an eyebrow at me.

"Are you okay? Did Maya make you upset or something?" He said laughing.

"She didn't make me upset, but she told me about something that did make me upset. Touch my girl again, and see what happens."

I watched his face go pale white.

I shut my locker, and walked out.

Shit. This practice just got 10 times worse.

"Everybody line up, and listen to instructions."

Even though he wasn't looking at me, I could feel the icy aura from Ezra.

When I was at Amaya's treehouse I thought about this happening, but I was so confident she'd kiss me. I swear there was a brief moment of electricity between us.
