a/n GUYS 100K READS LMAOOOOOO COOL. AWESOME. AMAZING. THANK YOU!!

i was nervous to publish this because i myself am not hearing impaired nor deaf, and was worried i wouldn't be able to fully respect the community in this chapter. i did some research before writing this and tried to get insight on the experiences that those who are hearing impaired or deaf might go through, but it probably is still lacking.

i hope you enjoy :) again i don't want to assume anything about this community or their experiences so if anything is offensive or seems insensitive please let me know!

thank you for requesting!

VIKTOR
- you became hearing impaired after an unusual illness in your adolescence, so you can hear to a degree

- he's very very sweet

- he switches his version of communication based on what is most comfortable to you in that moment

- he'll speak at an even speed and volume so you can read his lips and catch the words he says

- or signs to you if people are talking too fast or low for you to understand

- if you miss an auditory cue he lets you know (ex: announcement, someone calling your name)

- you two help each other around the house, whether it's you getting things for him so he doesn't walk as much, or him writing notes and reminders for you to read

- sometimes, there are sounds outside that you don't catch, like the rustling of trees or birds chirping

- he will signal to you the sound so you can imagine the auditory setting around you

- you're very grateful that you've found someone as thoughtful as him

JINX
- you became deaf in one ear after a serious accident

- you two created your own sign language and system to communicate

- she's learned to tell jokes in your special language and makes sure you always understand what's said to you

- she gets your attention with visual cues instead of audio because it's less confusing that way, or tells you exactly where she is because your audio direction is off

- reassures you of her presence through constant physical affirmation, like an arm over your shoulder or holding your hand

- always walks on the side of your good ear so you don't have to strain yourself to hear

- sometimes she talks too fast, or forgets to face you so you can read her lips, but you two are learning and growing together

VI
- you were born hearing impaired

- she didn't know much about people who are hard of hearing or deaf, but quickly learned

- she is very patient and always willing to repeat herself

- very good at enunciating and speaks at an even speed

- it's easy to be around her because she expresses herself with her body and her face well

- you also express yourself very visually(body and face)

- was never able to learn any sort of sign language, but you two still understand each other's visual cues very well

CAITLYN
- you were born mostly deaf

- when you two first meet, she takes a very studious approach to your situation
