I was in my room, working over the invitation cards of a party when I heard the door bell rang.

Putting all my stuff aside, I descended the stairs and reached the door. I peeked through the hole in the door and watched a certain pair of eyes zoomed in on the door.

What is he doing here?

Xavier called me few times after that gala the whole week but I didn't answer. Now he was standing outside my door and I didn't know what the hell to do.

I was kind of angry at him for coming back in my life and making me feel alll those things again. Being with him makes me dizzy and I don't want that rush of emotions anymore. I was done with romantic stuff.

I opened the door and prepared myself for giving him a hard time. I snarled, "Listen Xavier, you can't just come-"

I stopped when my eyes met with the little human standing beside Xavier, her arms locked around her small blonde doll.

"Hi," she waved when she found me staring at her.

"Jade." I whispered and slouched down in front of her.

"You no call me this week." she pouted and a muscle in my chest clenched.

"Um..." I exchanged a baffled look with Xavier whose expressions were similar to mine. "I was busy Jade."

She nuzzled her nose in the neck of her doll and whispered, "I thought you don't like me now."

"Aw baby, why would you think that?" I said and engulfed her in a hug. She snaked one arm around me and kept the other one around her doll.

Parting away from her, I straightened and cast a cold glance towards Xavier. "Jade, you go inside. I need to talk to Hazel." he said to her and she followed immediately.

Once she left, he looked at me. "I tried to stop her but she was so persistent on meeting you." he said. His hair was falling on his forehead, giving him a boyish look and a part of me wanted to run my fingers through them.

I kept my face straight despite the chaos inside me. "It's okay. You can come inside." I said and stood aside to give him way.

He nodded and walked inside, into the living room where Jade was sitting. He seated himself on one side of her and I sat down on the other.

"Dada and I visited a school today." she told me.

"Really? Did you like it?" I asked.

She nodded in return, showing me her toothy grin. "There was a big playground and the teacher was very nice."

I crossed my legs and faced her. "That's great. Were there other kids?"

"Yes," she exclaimed but her excitement suddenly died down. "But they all had their Mama with them." she pouted and I felt sadness wash over me. I knew this feeling; my mother was never there for me so I had to learn to be on my own.

"But see, you had your Dada with you. Isn't he the best Dada in the world?" I asked and she giggled in return. My eyes shifted to Xavier who was staring at me deeply with a calculating gaze.

"Jade, did you tell Hazel about your new bag?" Xavier said, changing the topic and Jade clapped in excitement.

"It's pink and it has Elsa on it." she stated, her eyes widened as if it was a miracle.

"Wow, it must be really pretty." I commented.

"Yeah." she answered.

After that, she shifted her attention to the TV screen where an animated movie was playing and I lifted my gaze to see Xavier who passed me a brief smile. I didn't return it and turned my face away.
