I wake up the next morning to an empty bed. I see a note on the pillow beside me where Dylan was sleeping.
Morning beautiful, Meet me at your office-Dylan
Why would he be at my office?
I get up and change into tights and an oversized sweater and put my hair up into a messy bun. I had the day off today but I guess I've got to go to my office?¿
On my way there, I grab an ice coffee and make my way through the busy streets of LA. I park my car in my usual parking spot and take the elevator up to my office
Everyone is working and stop to say good morning to me when I pass by. I've always hated the attention I got when walking past people, it made me uncomfortable.
I don't think I've ever came to work wearing a sweater with my hair in a messy bun. I certainly wasn't dressed properly but oh well. It's my day off bitches
I open my office door and don't see anyone in there. Ok...
I go to Carlo's door and enter. I see him talking with Dylan at his desk
"Well good morning miss preggo. How are dear?" Carlos asks as he comes to give me a hug
"Carlos. I haven't missed you one bit" I say jokingly while giving him a hug back
"Alright so what am I doing here? Why am I at work on my day off?" I ask a bit pissed and curious at the same time
"Well Dylan here, doesn't like to keep lies and told me that your pregnant with his baby. Why didn't you tell me it's Dylan's!?" Carlos asks
Dylan interrupts Carlos's ranting "anyway, Mia I want to tell you something" Dylan says while walking closer to me. He holds my hands in his and looks me directly in the eyes
"I know how much this opportunity means to you and how hard you've worked to get here. I don't want you having to choose either to raise a family or to work on your career. I love you so much Mia and I want to help. I've decided to step down and take a break from being CEO at C.D.M Co.
My mother has agreed to take over until I'm ready to come back. Yesterday while your mother came to visit you, I came to visit Carlos. We spoke about the French designer in France and told him about your situation. He has agreed to come to LA and work with you here. I'm going to move to LA as well to stay with you. Mi'amore were gonna do this together. We're gonna have a baby and I'll be here to help you and be by your side. I don't want you giving up your dream. I love you so much" he says
By the end, tears are streaming down my face. I grab his face and pull him closer to me and give him a heart full kiss. I love this man so much. This man means everything to me.
"I love you so much" I say while caressing his cheek
"But I don't want you to give up your job for me. I know how important it is to you" I say
"Stop. You are more important. And besides, it's only for now until we get settled and when we think it's the right time, I will go back. You and this baby are more important to me" he says while placing his hands on my belly
"Thank you" I say and kiss him on the lips
After a minute, I hear Carlos clearing his throat and I smile into the kiss
We disconnect and I look at Carlos
"Yes, can I help you?" I ask
"Where's my thank you?" He asks
"Come here" I say with a goofy smile and pull him into a hug
"Thank you both of you. You both mean so much to me" I say
I'm really lucky to have 2 amazing men in my life. Carlos has been there with me through this whole journey and I can never thank him enough.
We sit down and chat a bit more.
"So Emmanuel will be coming from France in 2 weeks time. You both will have a full team here to assist and will be working for 6 months. He is aware and is fine with you being pregnant and needing to take time off before and after the delivery" Carlos explains
"Wow that's amazing. I can't wait!" I say as I squeeze Dylan's hand that's placed into mine. I smile and look at him to see him smiling back
"I have some sketches and ideas put together and I can't wait to work with him" I say
"So until Emanuel arrives, you miss Clark are going to be off from work" Dylan says to me
"Wow, for 2 weeks?" I ask feeling a bit uneasy. I love my job and I love coming to work everyday.
"Well these two weeks are going to be your break where you get all your shit together cuz as soon as Emanuel is here, you both are going to be working day and night on this collection" Carlos explains
"And mi'amore I was thinking, we can take these 2 weeks to possibly look for a bigger place to move?" Dylan suggests
Ah, moving. I love where I live right now. It's small and cozy and is great for one person, possibly two. But I don't see us raising a family in my tiny apartment. I think it's best if we look for a bigger place to move
I also appreciate how Dylan is willing to move here to LA and be with me rather than having me move to New York. He really has changed and is willing to help with whatever works best.
