Twisted Logic

Unfold your sentiments from deep within,
Honour your mother, father and love your kin,
Leave sin for God alone to deal with for you,
Just remember to be kind to yourself being true,

The generation gap creates many a twisted logic,
The old work hard and complain when young frolic,
A line needs drawn to separate work from play,
No one should make demands of others despite what they say,

Let us close the divide between our conflicting ideologies,
Speak your mind respectfully without apologies,
But remember not to force feed others your religion,
Or talk down to those who believe science a superstition,

I hope elders pass on knowledge without condescension,
The youth of today need soaking in moral suspension,
The key is to let them believe they've made their own decision,
This will help them find their way through the human condition,

Don't lose your temper if you have to repeat your lessons,
Repetition gives memory strength dealing with social oppressions,
Just carry on as a mentor and a friend that's reliable,
And watch your student grow a personality that's pliable,

Confidence breeds confidence so speak with authority,
Lessons from old books not part of digital sorcery,
Work together with a common goal for the good,
And if you're not their parent do what a parent should.
