We pulled into the airport and I grabbed Shawn & I's bags and walked in through the sliding doors.

I saw Shawn sitting on the bench by the ticket dispenser.
"Hey, you ready?" I asked him.
"Yeah, but Sam- are you alright?" He asked taking his and my bag from me.
"I'm just worried and a little frazzled. I'll be okay. I took medicine." I reassured him.

When something shocks me, I get extremely bad anxiety attacks. I can get to the point where I'm throwing up and fainting.

I took my medicine as soon as I heard the news.

"I have about $200 saved up. Will that work?" I asked Shawn about the ticket.
Then he reached in his hoodie pocket and pulled out two first class tickets.
"I got them before you got here. Let's go." He grabbed my hand and led me to security.

---------

We landed around 5pm.
I immediately got a cab and told him to head to Fairoaks Hospital.

We pulled in and I grabbed Shawn's hand.
"What if she's not okay?" I asked him.
"Then she will be after awhile." He kissed my cheek.
We walked inside.
"Hi, do you have a Terry-?" I asked.
"You must be Sam." She interrupted me.
"Yeah, I am." I answered.
"Where is my mom?" I asked.
"Room 226." She answered and pointed to the stairs.

Shawn and I ran upstairs to room 226.
I knocked and walked in.
All of my brothers and sisters were at my grandparent's house.
"Mom?" I asked walking in.
"Sam?" She questioned.
Her voice was shaky and hoarse.
"Are you okay?" I ran over beside her and grabbed her hand.
"I will be after a few months of treatment." She squeezed my hand with little strength.
"Why treatments? What's wrong?" I got worried.
"I have cancer." A tear slid down her cheek.
I wiped it away with my thumb.
"What kind? How bad?" I continued to ask.
"Breast cancer and stage 3." She started to cry harder.
"Mom, it's going to be okay. We'll get through this. I promise." I gave her a long hug.
"I love you sweetie." She kissed my cheek.
"I love you too. Do you need anything?" I asked.
"Could you ask the nurse for some water?"
"Yeah, I'll be right back." I motioned for Shawn.
"Sam, I'm so sorry." Shawn said when we walked down the hall.
I stopped walking and turned to him.
I grabbed him and hugged the life out of him.
"Why? Why her? She's so nice." I cried.
"I don't know Sam. It's hard to know." He replied. Rubbing his fingers through my hair.
