Like I said, writing a novella in 12 weeks isn't easy. You're going to need to be on your game before you even start drafting your novella. Consider assembling and setting up the following to ensure full success.
- Your writing space. Make sure its comfy and has whatever you need whether that be funky lights, cafe sounds, music, papers and pens, or your trusty laptop
- Snacks and drinks to take care of your body and mind as you work
- An ONC buddy or bookclub to run ideas by and check-in with during the contest
- A writing timeline
- An outline if that's part of your process
- Your prompt! (Prompts are out February 1!)Finally, be sure to tell whoever you live with that you're competing in a writing contest with deadlines. Communication is key, and hopefully your family/roommates/partner will understand. Don't do what I did and forget to tell anyone. My sister almost had an intervention for me since I was spending so much time writing in my room. Oops!
