the small things

my patient's dad yesterday asked me if he could go down to the caf to get something to eat. I was giving the patient a bath with some nursing students. Of course I said "yes!"

When he came back he explained that he got both lunch and dinner because he wasn't sure who the night nurse would be. He said he felt comfortable leaving his daughter with me but didn't want to leave her with anyone else...i have never felt so shocked in my life when he said that--not to mention honored. I'm literally a 23 year old girl who feels like she just graduated from college 😂 I can't believe he would feel that way about me as a nurse...it made me feel confident about my nursing skills. it also warmed my heart.

it also did make me question what his other nurses were doing before that he didn't trust? Regardless, it's the little things. And I'm glad he felt like his daughter was in great hands in my care :')
