Zen is about an experience that can not be explained. Zen is summed up in four statements. 1. Direct transmission outside of holy books and apart from tradition, 2. No dependence on words and letters, 3. Direct pointing to the human mind, 4. Seeing into one's own nature and becoming awakened, enlightened, A Zen master once was asked, what is Zen? He said; " When hungry, eat. when tired, sleep." and the student said. doesn't everybody do that? Master said; No! they don't, when they eat they think of a thousand things and when they sleep, they dream countless dreams
